The father of her was Argentine with Scottish and English ancestry. Her mother hails from Spanish as well as English descent. The Taylor-Joy family was a clan that included six children. Four of her siblings are from the previous marriage to Taylor's father. The family resided in Buenos Aires up until Taylor-Joy aged 6 and after which they moved to the Victoria district in London. Taylor Joy stated that moving from Buenos Aires, to Victoria was difficult and she didn't study English in hopes of going back to Argentina. Hill House, a school located in the same area in the same district as Northlands had to accept her. Then she attended Queen's Gate School where she studied ballet and acted in school productions. After she turned 16, she left school to pursue a full-time career in acting. Taylor-Joy was always aware that she wanted to become an actor. She achieved this when Sarah Doukas founder of Storm Management, offered Taylor-Joy the opportunity of modeling.
